Objective: The aim of this research was to investigate how the laparoscopic and laparotomic cholecystectomy affects the postoperative period in the elderly. Methods: The target group consisted of 59 patients over 65 years after cholecystectomy who were hospitalized from January 1st 2010 till December 31th 2010 in Vitkovice Hospital a.s. Results: We found that laparotomic cholecystectomy is less convenient for the elderly.
