Pilot testing of PNAP questionnaire "Patient Needs Assessment in Palliative Care" at oncological clinic

Aim: The aim of this contribution is to present the results of pilot research into a testing of the PNAP questionnaire "Patient needs assessment in palliative care" implemented at the oncological clinic of the University Hospital Ostrava, as well as to present an established significance of bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of patients with terminated oncological treatment.

Methods: The sample was made up of 52 patients of the oncological clinic of the University Hospital Ostrava, whose oncological treatment was terminated as a result of an incurable progression of oncological disease. For needs assessment the questionnaire Patient needs assessment in palliative care (PNAP) was used, consisting of 42 items clustered into five domains.

Results: Oncological patients considered the needs in the domains of autonomy and physical needs as the most important. They were the least satisfied with the saturation of psychological and spiritual needs.
