The issue of providing care about dying from the caregiver perspective

Aim: Author concerns in work assessment as providing care of dying relative influence the aspects of quality of life - physical health, spiritual and emotional aspects, financial and social status; monitoring degree of the caregiver burden and satisfaction with providing care to dying relative in light of form in providing care (home care vs. institutional palliative care).

Methods: For research author used standardized questionnaires Caregiver Quality of Life Index - Cancer (Weitzner & McMillan, 1999, p. 55-63), Caregiver Strain Index (Robinson, 1983, p. 343-348), and FAMCARE (Kristjanson et al, 1993, p. 693-701). This research included the sample size of 100 respondents, who provide palliative care.

Results: Following analyses receives entry author found out, significant statistical differences of the form of providing care of the caregiver, in all domains of quality of life. We didn't find significant statistical differences in the burden of a caregiver.

Conclusion: The results of our study accept the conclusion of several systematic reviews. Caregiver burden assessment and also quality of life assessment, realization nursing interventions and monitoring effectivity of interventions can improve quality of life of caregiver and can prevent development of burnout syndrome.
