Implementation of evidence based practice principles for nursing diagnostic improvement in clinical settings

Recently published works concerning evidence based nursing practice (EBP) are mainly focused on nursing interventions - evaluation of nursing intervention' s effectiveness. There is a lack of interest for nursing diagnostic process from the point of EBP. Authors are aimed to implement each constituent steps of EBP in nursing diagnostic process. Current issues of nursing diagnostic process in Slovak conditions, which are divided into following areas: the absence of universal professional consensus in using nursing classifications, the high variability and ambiguous interpretation of diagnostic components, the routine selection of nursing diagnoses, the lack of clinical thinking and differential diagnostics, low rate of use valid and reliable tools for objectification of nursing diagnoses are worked out simultaneously. Presented article is aimed to analyse an importance of EBP principles in solving of above mentioned issues as well as concretize EBP application for establishment of higher quality of nursing diagnostics.
